SABTS (Sexually Abusive Behavior Treatment Service)
SABTS was established to provide a prevention and early intervention service for children and young people (under 17 years) who have engaged in sexually abusive behaviours. Our practice reflects the program principals outlined in the CEASE standards of practice for problem sexual behaviours and sexually abusive treatment programs.
At LCCASA, when a young person is referred to the SABTS program, we undergo a thorough assessment and guide the child/young person through a tailor-made program aimed to treat the behavior based on their individual needs.
The primary aim of the SABTS program is to cease the problematic behavior of the child/young person. The program addresses the harm caused by their past behaviors and develops safe and responsible ways of behaving.
In addition to providing individual counselling for the child / young person, the SABTS program involves counselling and working with family members and caregivers. LCCASA aims to address the impact of the client's behavior with the family or care givers with the aim of restoring safe and respectful behaviours and understandings.

Children under 10 years |
For children under the age of 10 years, the Problem Sexual Behaviors (PSB) program is implemented. Children under 10 years are unable to be criminally charged for their behavior.
The behavior exhibited by the child is sexual in nature, but not considered normal for the child's age. If you have any questions about the SABTS program or PSB, please call us on 03 5441 0430 or email lccasa@lccasa.org.au |
Referrals to SABTS |
Referrals to the SABTS / PSB program are received from families, Child Protection, Police, schools or other community organisations. The family of the child/young person being referred for treatment must consent to the referral unless a Therapeutic Treatment Order or Therapeutic Treatment Placement Order has been made which compels the young person to attend treatment.
Please see LCCASA SABTS Intake and Referral Eligibility Guidelines For more information about the SABTS treatment orders, download a Fact Sheet |
